The economic immigration programs in Canada are crucial to the nation’s labor market development, recording almost 100 percent of all elevations in the federal workforce in current years.
Because immigration plays a vital role in Canada’s economy, job initiatives are usually linked to immigration schemes to assist Canada’s employers in filling open roles they may be unable to fill. One significant instance of this is the capacity of employers to employ applicants within the Express Entry applicant pool.

When Employer Employs Via The Express Entry System
Employers must be within specific contexts and satisfy Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) measures before employing an international citizen in the Express Entry pool.
Notably, employers are required to:
- Ensure they are employed in a role that is eligible as skilled work. Skilled employment is categorized under Canada’s TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibility) system as class 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupation Classification (NOC).
- Demonstrate that they cannot complete the employment domestically, which requires evidence that they have publicized the employment posting on the Canadian Government’s Job Bank webpage and in two other locations.
The NOC system in Canada explains and classifies occupations within the nation. The TEER system differentiates employment levels depending on the internship, skill, education, and responsibilities required to execute the positions.
How Employers Employ Via Express Entry
To discover applicants and create employment offers via Express Entry, employers in Canada use the “employment match” system of the Federal Job Bank. The Job Bank is the national forum for employment listings and related services and resources, such as career planning instruments, labor market details, and employment support.

With the Job Match system, the Job Bank’s system will merge an employer’s employment posting with profiles that suit the employment narration within the posting. Once these applicants are recognized and employment procedures are observed, an employer can select whether to consider them for the role. Remember that the Job Match features are for everybody within the Job Bank system, not only the people in the Express Entry pool.
Suppose an employer wants to make an employment offer to an international citizen within the Express Entry pool. In that case, they may need a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Labor Market Impact Assessments are administrative evaluations that specify the effect of employing an international citizen on the Canadian labor market. The document must return a favorable or neutral outcome to assist a Canadian employer’s employment as an international citizen. There are also specific requirements under which a Labor Market Impact Assessment is not required.
When the LMIA has been procured (if required), the employer must offer authentic employment to the applicant under Express Entry measures.
How New Immigrants Can Be Considered For Employment While In The Express Entry Pool
New immigrants in the Express Entry pool seeking to make use of the Job Match system of the Job bank are required to:
- Have an authentic entry profile with a profile code and employment seeker authentication code.
- Develop a Job Match account. This differs from a Job Bank account, although the services drop under one circle. The Job Match forum prompts users to fill in their Express Entry details when generating a profile.
IRCC offers employment seeker authentication numbers that permit qualified profiles to seek employment in Canada. These and the profile code are developed once an authentic profile is presented to the express entry pool. Applicants needing an employment seeker authentication number are suggested to contact IRCC.
When the two accounts are set up and linked, new immigrants will be merged with employment postings within the Job Bank. Express Entry applicants will only display employment postings publicized on the Job Bank for more than 30 days.
